S. Einslie is recorded only as a late eighteenth century miniature painter and mezzotint engraver working in Soho, London. He exhibited eight miniature portraits at the Royal Academy between 1785 and 1800, and a further two in 1808 sent from "Mr Boydell’s, Cheapside". Among other works, he engraved portraits of the Earl and Countess of Aldeborough after John Hoppner (q.v.) and Thomas Gainsborough respectively. A further stipple engraving of the engraver P. Lambert after Einslie is also recorded.
