A View of the Fight between Gully and Gregson

Description

Gully and Gregson are shown in their second encounter. Originally planned to be held at Woburn, the venue was switched to Market Street after the Marquess of Buckingham refused to allow the fight to take place in his county. The thousands of spectators who had assembled at Woburn moved to the new location some 17 miles away. In a contest lasting 75 minutes, Gully easily overcame Gregson. Notwithstanding his sound defeat, jut a few months later Gregsonh challenged Cribb for the championship but was again severly beaten. He retired to become landlord of ‘The Castle’ in Holborn, known as Bob’s Chop House.
